It’s amazing that Chris and I didn’t get arrested in the past – we did a lot of full contact fighting in the park and woods and would often be covered in dirt and blood after our sessions. We often got strange looks from passers by, but nobody ever thought we were fighting in anger, I think, since we generally wore sparring gloves when doing freestyle fighting or helmets and other bits of armour when going full contact with weapons.

Maybe the difference was that Angi and I weren’t wearing any protective equipment (none was needed!) and were just in our everyday clothes??

But it’s a good thing that the police in our area are that attentive to what’s going on in public spaces. And to the untrained eye, I may well have needed saving from Angi, the pint-sized judoka! She WAS Tori in the kata, after all!

I’d like to videotape it soon; perhaps I’ll take the camera to the next class. This escape really works.
